How do I properly video-record my swing?

There are two main views of your golf swing that you will record; “down the line” and “face on.” These two angles will, when used together, give you the information you need to analyze your swing.

In the down the line view, the camera is positioned facing towards the target — see image below.
In the face on view, the camera is directly in front of you, so that your shoulders and hips are perpendicular to the camera — see image below.

To set-up properly for video recording your swing, please:

  • Mount your iPad so you can get it set-up correctly for your lesson (8-10″ away from you).
  • Use the camera app on your iPad to make sure that you are fully in the screen before the session starts.
Note: Make sure that the camera is set to video mode when positioning the iPad.
  • Once your iPad is set in position, mark a spot on the ground where you will stand to capture your swings during your lesson.

HOW TO RECORD A FACE-ON VIEW:

  • The bottom of the camera view needs to show the ball and the clubface.
  • The camera should be exactly perpendicular to your chest.
  • The camera should be placed at belt high.
  • Allow enough room in your camera view to show your club path throughout your whole swing.

HOW TO RECORD A DOWN THE LINE VIEW:

  • The camera should be placed behind you on your toe line.
  • The camera should be placed at belt high.
